After relocating to the French countryside two years ago and witnessing the ban on hunting, Adelaide and Simon find that life close to nature offers tranquility and fulfillment—but also unexpected boredom. Eager to forge new friendships, they feel elated when Bernard’s clever, affluent son Stan and his sophisticated, aristocratic wife Bennie move nearby, bringing children the same age as theirs. However, what initially seems like a blessing soon reveals itself as a hidden challenge: Stan and Bennie are passionate coursers who insist on hunting on horseback with their hounds wherever they wish. This sparks turmoil. The conflict escalates into an all-out battle as Stan acquires land, influences the locals with bribes, and aims to transform the forest into an exclusive retreat for the ultra-wealthy.
