In 1997, 19-year-old Kyle Miller aspires to start a party backdrop business alongside his close friend, Eric Hernandez. While Kyle is enthusiastic about the venture, Eric feels hesitant, weighed down by his parents’ expectations. Choosing to forgo college, the duo dedicates a year to developing their business plan during their regular visits to the neighborhood laundromat. One evening, their routine is disrupted by a mysterious stranger who shares insightful advice and performs a magical trick. Suddenly, the two friends realize they have lost the ability to lie. As they join forces to break the enchantment, they uncover the high stakes involved when the truth is fully revealed.
