Misanthropic novelist François is renowned for crafting captivating crime novels—often described as “Agatha Christie meets The Scarlet Pimpernel”—set in the adventurous world of his Marquis la Rose series. However, beyond the daring escapades and heroic tales, François’s real life is surprisingly dull. His partner, Colette, a distinguished professor at the Sorbonne and an expert on Alfred Hitchcock, grows weary of François lounging around in pajamas all day in their apartment. She longs for the thrill and glamour found in the classic films she teaches to her students. When Colette begins to suspect their charismatic neighbor, a flamboyant actor, of murdering his wife, their monotonous routine is shattered. This shocking suspicion not only disrupts their quiet life but also rekindles the passion and excitement in their relationship, pulling them out of their stagnation.
