In the 1980s, Manoharan emerged as a prominent figure in the city's crude oil smuggling operations. He strongly resisted Patani's vision of establishing a private port intended to serve as a central hub for the illicit oil trade. To pressure the government into supporting his own ambitions, Manoharan siphoned off a significant amount of oil from the pipeline as a means of blackmail. Ultimately, Vasu uncovers the whereabouts of the stolen oil, bringing the situation to light.
